**Pune, Maharashtra:** Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is set to embark on a significant visit to Pune, Maharashtra, on August 1st. The visit will witness the Prime Minister’s participation in various events that mark the inauguration and initiation of crucial development projects in the region.
At approximately 11 AM, Prime Minister Modi will commence the day by performing Darshan and Pooja at the renowned Dagdusheth Mandir, seeking blessings for the successful execution of the day’s endeavors.
Following this, at 11:45 AM, he will be honored with the prestigious Lokmanya Tilak National Award. The award is presented annually on the 1st of August, commemorating the death anniversary of Lokmanya Tilak, and is bestowed upon individuals who have made remarkable contributions to the progress and development of the nation. Prime Minister Modi will become the 41st recipient of this esteemed recognition.
At 12:45 PM, the Prime Minister will make his way to the Pune Metro where he will flag off metro trains, marking the official inauguration of services on completed sections of the two corridors of Pune Metro Phase I. These newly operational sections include the stretch from Phugewadi station to Civil Court station and Garware College station to Ruby Hall Clinic station. Notably, the foundation stone for this project was laid by the Prime Minister himself in 2016. The new metro sections will establish vital connections between important locations in Pune, such as Shivaji Nagar, Civil Court, Pune Municipal Corporation office, Pune RTO, and Pune Railway Station. The development signifies a significant step towards realizing the Prime Minister’s vision of providing citizens with modern and eco-friendly mass rapid urban transport systems across the country.
The metro stations on the route will showcase unique and captivating designs inspired by the great Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The Chhatrapati Sambhaji Udyan Metro Station and Deccan Gymkhana metro stations will resemble the distinctive headgear worn by soldiers of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, known as “Mavala Pagadi.” The Shivaji Nagar underground Metro station will evoke the essence of the forts built by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
Notably, the Civil Court metro station will hold the distinction of being one of the deepest metro stations in the country, with a depth of 33.1 meters. Its innovative design will allow direct sunlight to reach the platform, adding to its uniqueness.
In addition to this, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate the Waste to Energy Plant, a commendable initiative developed under the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) at an estimated cost of Rs 300 crores. This plant will utilize approximately 2.5 lakh MT of waste annually to generate electricity, contributing significantly to sustainable energy practices.
Further advancing the mission of achieving “Housing for All,” the Prime Minister will hand over more than 1280 houses constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana by PCMC. Additionally, he will also present more than 2650 PMAY houses constructed by Pune Municipal Corporation. As part of this momentous occasion, the Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for around 1190 PMAY houses to be constructed by PCMC, along with over 6400 houses constructed by Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority.
